The Omicron Delta Kappa Society, Inc. the national honor society for student leadership, recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership, and exemplary character. Membership in ODK (founded in 1914) is awarded to undergraduate junior and senior students; to graduate students; to faculty, staff, administration, and alumni; and to persons qualifying for honorary membership (“honoris causa”). Student membership candidates must rank in the upper 35 percent in scholarship of their school or college and must show leadership in at least one of five areas: scholarship; athletics; campus or community service, social and religious activities, and campus government; journalism, speech, and the mass media; and creative and performing arts. The circle at St. Mary’s College of Maryland was chartered in 1999. The chapter sponsors faculty-student panel discussions, leadership activities, and participates in several community service projects each year.

Spring 2014, William Thomas Rowe Endowed Scholarship in Art,

Awarded annually to a junior or senior art major for the purpose of defraying the cost of his or her art education. Awarded by the studio art faculty through an online portfolio submission process. Works submitted must include 5 examples of artworks created from direct observation (figures, still-lives, landscapes etc.) and 5 examples of artworks that demonstrate outstanding artistic ability in any media area.

Community involvement

 

            October 2024 SECAC – Presenter- Rope Language. Presented my MFA artwork made in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the panel Silver Linings: Treasures from the Zoomscape.

 

February 2024 Co-facilitator of artist talks for Transitions online exhibition with Dispatch Gallery. Introduced the artists and led question and answer session.

 

Spring 2020-Spring 2021 Secretary of MoVAA (Master of Visual Arts Association)

Student government of MFA programs at CSU. Took and distributed minutes from all MoVAA meetings, organized and planned events such as visiting artist talks.

 

September 2020 Organizer and Supervisor of mural at CSU Spur Campus as part of Crush Walls

Street art festival in Denver, CO. Organized 10 volunteers, conceptualized imagery, created stencils, painted, operated scissor lift.

 

10/18/19 CSU Diversity Symposium Presenter- Expressing Yourself through Alternative Media

Instructed a group of 15 participants about the history and purposes of mini-zines. Led hands-on tutorial of making mini-zines. Addressed student questions and concerns. Provided creative guidance.

 

2019 Guest Speaker for 3D Foundations- Professor Mark Dineen

Spoke briefly about my professional experiences in the arts after my undergraduate. Interacted with members of a panel of 3 in actively engaged discussion. Answered student questions.
